On participation games with complete information

چکیده

We analyze a class of two-candidate voter participation games under complete information that encompasses as special cases certain public good provision games. We characterize the Nash equilibria of these games as stationary points of a non-linear programming problem, the objective function of which is a Morse function (one that does not admit degenerate critical points) for almost all costs of participation. We use this fact to establish that, outside a closed set of measure zero of participation costs, all equilibria of these games are regular (an alternative to the result of De Sinopoli and Iannantuoni, 2005). One consequence of regularity is that the equilibria of these games are robust to the introduction of (mild) incomplete information. Finally, we establish the existence of monotone Nash equilibria, such that players with higher participation cost abstain with (weakly) higher probability. JEL Classification Numbers: C72, D72.

APPLICATION OF GAME THEORY IN DYNAMIC COMPETITIVE PRICING WITH ONE PRICE LEADER AND N DEPENDENT FOLLOWERS

In this research UF cheese pricing is considered and Pegah, Pak, Kaleh, Rouzaneh and Mihan firms’ data, as five main UF cheese competitive firms of Iran in breakfast cheese competitive market, is used. By using these firm’s sales data, production data and price of each ton of UF cheese in nineteen work-periods (each work-period is 6 months), their sales equations are estimated for each work-pe...

Social Development of Students Participating in Physical Activity and Computer Games

The purpose of this study was to compare the participation in physical activity and computer games on the social development of students. The population of this research was made up entirely of male students from secondary schools in the city of Marivan (mean age of 13.5 years). Among them, 300 were selected purposively (150 athletes, 150 computer games players). In order to collect the informa...

Mechanism design with partially - specified participation games Laurent Lamy

This paper considers the implementation of an economic outcome under complete information when the strategic and informational details of the participation game are partially-specified. This means that full participation is required to be a subgame-perfect equilibrium for a large variety of extensive modifications of the simultaneous-move participation game in the same vein as Kalai [Large Robu...

Committee design with endogenous participation

We investigate the optimal design of a committee in a model with the endogenous participation of experts who have private information about their own abilities. We study three different dimensions of committee design: members’ wages, the number of seats, and the communication system. We show that, surprisingly, higher wages lead to lower quality experts. By contrast, transparency improves the q...

Efficiency in Negotiation: Complexity and Costly Bargaining∗

Even with complete information, two-person bargaining can generate a large number of equilibria, involving disagreements and inefficiencies, in (i) negotiation games where disagreement payoffs are endogenously determined (Busch and Wen [4]) and (ii) costly bargaining games where there are transaction/participation costs (Anderlini and Felli [2]). We show that when the players have (at the margi...
